Concepts of Angles & Angle Measurement

                                                       Vocabulary

A straight path of points that goes on and on in opposite directions is called a line.

A part of a line that has one endpoint and continues on forever in one direction is called a ray.

An acute angle is a angle that is open less than a right angle and has measure less than 90 degrees.

A straight angle is an angle that forms a straight line and has a measure of 180 degrees.

A point is an exact location in space.

A part of a line with two endpoints is called a line segment

A right angle is an angle that forms a square corner and has a measure of 90 degrees.

An obtuse angle is an angle that is open more than a right angle but less than a straight angle. This angle measures between 90 degrees and 180 degrees.

An angle that turns through 1/360 of a cricle and measures 1 degree is called a unit angle.

A protractor is a tool used to measure and draw angles

Angles can be measured using a unit called a degree.

The number of degrees an angle turns through is its angle measure.

The point where two rays meet to form an angle is called a vertex
